Marissa Gelband, the Head Coach for Amity Youth Lacrosse, will be directing this GameBreaker Camp this summer. A native of New Haven, CT, Gelband began her lacrosse career in elementary school playing for the Amity youth team and throughout high school while at the Foote School. When she arrived at Emerson College as an audio/radio major, Gelband became a member of the College’s first women’s lacrosse team.
Gelband competed for three years for the Lions and was the team’s leading scorer all three years. Although she had a year of lacrosse eligibility remaining, she graduated in only three years due to a combination of advanced placement courses from high school and extra course loads. After graduating, Gelband was named the Head Coach at Emerson College in 2004 at the age of 21, in which she is still considered one of the youngest Head Coaches within the NCAA. Since her stint at Emerson, Marissa has continued to coach throughout New England including teams such as Metro Lacrosse (MA), Milton Academy Middle School (MA), Daniel Hand High School (CT) and now currently Amity Youth Lacrosse.
