Sacred Heart University’s Assistant, Alaina Andersen, will be directing this first year girl’s camp at Old Dam Rd. Rec Fields. Before coming to Sacred Heart Alaina spent a season as the head coach of the girl’s lacrosse program at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia. While in charge of the day to day operations of the lacrosse program, Andersen helped turn around a VES program that went 2-15 in 2007 to a 10-8 record last spring. For her efforts, Andersen was named the Coach of the Year.
After a standout playing career at Oneonta State College, Andersen first gained coaching experience as an assistant coach at Lynchburg College. Andersen helped lead her team to the three-straight appearances in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament while coaching six OCAC All-Conference players. As a student-athlete at Oneonta State, Andersen was a three-year starter. She led the team in ground balls and was the team’s second leading scorer in 2003. She guided her team to the SUNYAC Playoffs in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and advancing to the championship game her sophomore and junior seasons.
