We are excited to have Greg Raymond First Assistant Coach from Princeton University directing this excellent GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp at Butler University.
Greg Raymond has spent the last two seasons coaching with Chris Bates and four of the last five seasons coaching at Princeton University, during which time he has establshed himself as one of the top assistant coaches in Division I lacrosse.
Raymond returned to Princeton for the 2010 season when Bates became the head coach, after the two had spent the 2009 season working together at Drexel. Raymond coached under Bill Tierney and David Metzbower at Princeton in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Raymond is principally responsible for coaching Princeton's defense, which in 2010 produced two second-team All-Americas (Tyler Fiorito and Chad Wiedmaier) and two other players who were All-Ivy League (Long Ellis, John Cunningham).
The 2007 Tigers led Division I in scoring defense at 6.2 goals per game, and the 2006 team finished fifth in Division I. Raymond coached a first-team All-America goalie in Alex Hewit and a first-team All-America defenseman in Dan Cocoziello during his first time with the Tigers.
He also handled much of the administration and worked extensively with the English national team during Princeton’s trip to Spain and Ireland in 2008.
A 2005 graduate of Johns Hopkins, Raymond was part of the Blue Jay’s NCAA championship team his senior year, when the team went 16-0 and won its first national title in 18 years. Raymond, a longstick midfielder, and the rest of the Hopkins defense shut out Duke for the last 27 minutes of the 9-8 win in the final.
Raymond, who grew up in Corning, N.Y., has played professionally in Major League Lacrosse.
Assisting Coach Raymond at camp is Kevin Boland, current Assistant coach at University of Vermont.
Kevin Boland, a 2005 graduate of Johns Hopkins and a three-time All-American with the Blue Jays, enters his fourth season as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Vermont.
Boland spent three years playing Major League Lacrosse for the New Jersey Pride and Washington Bayhawks. In his three years with the Pride as a midfielder, Boland recorded 37 points on 23 goals and 14 assists. He finished the 2008 MLL season playing with the Washington after being traded from New Jersey in July.
Boland also has coaching experience, serving as an assistant coach for the varsity lacrosse team at The Boys Latin School in Baltimore, Md., in 2006. He was the offensive coordinator for the Cobra Lacrosse youth program in Howard County, Md., in 2007
As a midfielder at Johns Hopkins, Boland was named a STX/USILA All-American in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He served as a co-captain his senior season and finished his career with 82 assists to rank first all-time at JHU in that category among midfielders. The Blue Jays posted a 47-10 record in Boland’s four seasons and reached the Final Four on three occasions. He graduated with a degree in sociology.
