Coach Schmidt will be offering a free Coaches Clinic on Sunday, June 20th from 3:00-6:00 pm.  He will review practice plans, offensive strategy, defensive slides, and game planning.  Nick has coached on the youth, high school and college levels, and can help provide coaching tips for all age group teams.  If you are a boy’s lacrosse coach or have an interest in helping your child’s team, don’t miss this free event.  Please call 800-944-7112 to RSVP.

 

Nick Schmidt, a former MLL player and Assistant Coach at Rutgers University, will be directing this GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp.


Schmidt, who played for Rutgers from 2000-03, was a part of the incredible turnaround of Rutgers lacrosse. In his first three years, the team won a combined 10 games. During his senior campaign the Scarlet Knights went 10-5 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 12 years. As a senior, Schmidt tallied 16 goals and added eight assists.

Additionally, Schmidt played for 6 years in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL). In 2007, he tallied 18 points and scooped 23 ground balls. He finished his career with the Chicago Machine after playing for both the New Jersey Pride and the Los Angeles Riptide.

The former Scarlet Knight has also had the chance to coach at the youth and high school levels for the last five years. Schmidt has received his teaching certification and has founded the South Brunswick Youth Lacrosse program to help the growth of the sport in the state of New Jersey.

From 2004-08, Schmidt was the assistant coach at South Brunswick High School. His team compiled a 75-21 overall record during his tenure and in 2007 they captured the Greater Middlesex Conference Division Championship. 

Schmidt graduated from Rutgers in 2003 with a degree in Management and Labor Relations. He also received his teaching certification from Kean University.

We are excited to have Brandon Davis, a Goalie specialist at this GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp. Brandon is from the lacrosse hotbed of Connecticut. Brandon served as captain at Tolland High School(CT) 2003-'04 and was selected Connecticut Senior All-Star team in 2004. In College Brandon had an excellent career he was Three year captain of University of Louisville lacrosse team 2007-'09, two Year President of Louisville lacrosse team. After graduating Brandon served as the Goalie Coach at University of Louisville for a season. Brandon continued his coaching career as Assistant Varsity coach, Kentucky Country Day and now serves as Head Varsity coach at Sacred Heart Academy. Throughout his playing career Brandon has been involved in coaching with several youth and development teams on the East Coast as well as in Kentucky.

Chris O’Dougherty, three time senior captain defensemen at Rutgers University, will be assisting Nick Schmidt. Last season he was named First Team All-ECAC in which he won the William Miller Trophy as the team’s MVP. O'Dougherty has recently been drafted to the Denver Outlaws in the 4th round of the 2009 MLL Draft.
